Financial Aid & Scholarships

You Can Afford Carson-Newman

Music scholarships, university merit awards, grants, Tennessee state aid, and other assistance may work together to make C-N possible.

Music Scholarships

Music majors typically receive $2,000–$10,000 in music scholarships per academic year, with select students awarded full-tuition music scholarships.

Typical annual awards

Prospective music majors are considered through the Music Major Audition. Final awards reflect faculty evaluation, departmental review, available scholarship funding, and the student’s complete financial-aid package.

Exceptional preparation

Music scholarships recognize preparation, potential, and a commitment to making music at C-N. An audition begins the consideration process; it does not guarantee a particular award.

Merit Scholarships & Financial Aid

Freshman merit awards use academic qualifications, including high-school GPA and ACT, SAT, or CLT scores when submitted. Current award amounts and requirements are published in the university's merit chart rather than repeated here.

Merit awards are separate from music scholarships. Grants, need-based aid, and other assistance may also be part of a complete financial-aid package.

Scholarship availability and amounts vary, and institutional caps and limits may apply. Full-tuition music awards are considered alongside eligibility for other grants and scholarships and may not combine with every form of aid. Official awards come from Carson-Newman; only an official award notice states a student’s final financial-aid package.
